How taming works
You don’t tame adult animals — you raise babies. Find a baby/young animal (or a pet egg) in the wild, place it in an Animal Pen with the right food, and over time it grows into a loyal pet. Better food can produce stronger (or “greater”) versions of the pet.
Combat pets
War beasts — wolves, hyenas, bears, rhinos, sabretooths and more — fight alongside you and guard your base, much like fighter thralls. Their Authority-scaled damage and survivability make them strong companions; a greater pet can be a serious asset. See our attributes guide for the Authority stat.
Horses — the best travel
Horses are the fastest way to cross the map. To get one, build a Stable near horse spawns (the Highlands are a classic spot), place a foal inside with food, and wait for it to grow. A horse with a saddle dramatically speeds up travel and lets you fight from the saddle.
Feeding for the best results
The food you put in the Animal Pen (or Stable) affects the outcome — basic food gives a normal pet, while specific recipes can yield a greater version with better stats. It’s worth feeding the good stuff for a combat pet you’ll rely on.
