The Purge is Conan Exiles’ base-defence event — a wave of NPCs (or worse) that attacks your base, testing everything you’ve built. Handled wrong, it levels your home; handled right, it’s some of the best loot and thralls in the game. This guide covers the Conan Exiles Purge.
What the Purge is
As you play — gathering, crafting, killing — you build up a hidden Purge meter. When it fills and the conditions are met, a Purge triggers: waves of themed enemies attack your base. Survive it and you can capture rare Purge-only thralls and loot.
What attacks you
The Purge’s theme and difficulty depend on where your base is — different regions spawn different enemies (human raiders, beasts, even tougher faction forces in dangerous areas). Building in a harsher region means a tougher Purge but better Purge rewards.
How to prepare
- Strong walls — build your base from T3 (Reinforced Stone / Black Ice); T1/T2 won’t survive a serious Purge. See our base building guide.
- Fighter thralls & archers — a wall of well-placed, well-geared thralls is your main defence (see our thralls guide).
- Defensible layout — funnel enemies into kill zones; don’t leave weak entry points.
- Repair materials ready — keep building mats on hand to patch breaches mid-Purge.
Tune the Purge on your server
The Purge can be brutal — or you can dial it in. On your own Conan Exiles server you control Purge frequency, difficulty and whether it’s on at all, so it fits your group. Adjust it alongside your other rates in the server settings.
