How To Set A Password On Your Project Zomboid Server

Learn how to set a password on your Project Zomboid dedicated server.

Setting a password on your Project Zomboid server restricts access so only players who know the password can join. This is essential if you want to run a private server for friends or a specific community.

Setting Your Server Password

Stop Your Server

Log in to the XGamingServer Panel and stop your server.

Open Startup Settings

In the sidebar, go to Startup.

Set the Password

Find the Server Password field and type your desired password.

Start Your Server

Start your server to apply the password.

💡 Tip: Share the password with your players through a private channel like Discord DMs. Avoid posting it publicly if you want to keep your server private.

📝 Note: Players connecting through the in-game favorites or Steam server browser will be prompted to enter the password before joining. Make sure to communicate any password changes to your active players.
