How To Update Your Project Zomboid Server

Learn how to update your Project Zomboid dedicated server.

XGamingServer Project Zomboid servers support automatic updates, so keeping your server up to date is straightforward. When a new version of Project Zomboid is released, your server can apply the update automatically on its next restart.

Updating Your Server

Stop Your Server

Log in to the XGamingServer Panel and stop your server.

Verify Automatic Updates

In the sidebar, go to Startup and confirm that the Automatic Update setting is enabled.

Start Your Server

Go to Console and start your server. If an update is available, it will be downloaded and installed automatically during startup.

💡 Tip: After a major game update, check that your mods are still compatible with the new version. Outdated mods are the most common cause of post-update crashes.

📝 Note: If automatic updates are enabled and your server is not updating, try stopping the server, waiting a minute, then starting it again. Steam Workshop downloads can sometimes be slow to initialize.
