How To Install Mods On Your Satisfactory Server

Learn how to install mods on your Satisfactory dedicated server using the Satisfactory Mod Manager (SMM).

Mods can add new items, machines, quality-of-life improvements, and entirely new mechanics to your Satisfactory experience. This guide covers how to install mods on your server using the Satisfactory Mod Manager (SMM), which handles mod installation over SFTP.

Connect Satisfactory Mod Manager To Your Server

First, download SMM from the SMM Releases page on GitHub.

Stop Your Server

Log in to the XGamingServer Panel and Stop your Satisfactory server.

Get Your SFTP Details

Note your SFTP connection details from the panel sidebar. You'll need:

  • Username - Your SFTP username
  • Password - Your game panel password
  • Host - Your connection address (without the port)
  • Port - 2022

Add Your Server in SMM

Open Satisfactory Mod Manager and select Manage Servers in the left-hand sidebar. Choose SFTP and enter your SFTP details from the previous step.

Confirm the Connection

Click Add. SMM will connect to your server over SFTP.

📝 Note: Leave the Path field empty when adding your server.

Installing Mods To Your Satisfactory Server

Once your server is connected in SMM, follow these steps to install mods.

Select Your Server

In the top left of SMM, select your server under Select Game Installation.

Browse Compatible Mods

Sort mods by Compatible to filter out client-side-only mods that won't work on a dedicated server.

Install Your Mods

Download and enable the mods you want. SMM will upload them to your server automatically.

To verify the mods installed correctly, go to Files in the panel and check the /FactoryGame/Mods/ folder on your server. If this folder doesn't exist, the mods haven't been installed.

Connecting To A Modded Server

You and all other players must have the same mods installed locally to join a modded server.

Select Your Local Installation

In Satisfactory Mod Manager, select your local game installation.

Enable Mods

Toggle Mods On in the SMM interface.

Launch the Game

Click Play Satisfactory at the bottom of SMM to launch the game with mods enabled.

⚠️ Warning: All players must have the exact same mods installed and enabled as the server. If there's a mismatch, you won't be able to join or interact properly. Use SMM's Import/Export profile feature to easily share your mod list with friends.

Troubleshooting

SMM Won't Launch or Crashes

  • Make sure you've downloaded the version of SMM compatible with your platform (Windows, Linux, etc.)
  • Try running the program as Administrator
  • Check your firewall and antivirus settings to ensure SMM isn't being blocked

Server Won't Add Via SFTP

  • Make sure you remove the port from the Host field. For example, if your connection address is MyServer323283:2022, only enter MyServer323283 as the host
  • Verify that your password is correct (it's your game panel password, which you can reset from the panel)
  • Double-check that all SFTP fields are filled in correctly
