How to Reset Your Valheim Server

Learn how to completely reset your Valheim dedicated server and start fresh with a new world.

Resetting your Valheim server deletes all server files — including your world save, configuration, and mods — and performs a fresh reinstall. This gives you a clean starting point.

⚠️ Warning: This permanently deletes everything on your server. Only use this as a last resort. If you just want to start a new world without losing your configuration, consider deleting only the world files instead. If you're having issues, join our Discord first and we can help.

Before You Reset

Create a backup — Go to Backups on the panel and create a manual backup in case you want to restore later
Download important files — If you have custom configs or mod settings you want to keep, download them from Files first

Resetting Your Server

Stop your server

Access the XGamingServer panel and stop your Valheim server.

Delete all files

In the sidebar, go to Files. Select all files and folders and delete them. The file browser should be completely empty.

Reinstall the server

Go to the Dashboard and click Reinstall Server. Wait for the installation to complete.

Start your server

Once the reinstall finishes, start your server. It will generate a fresh world and default configuration.

💡 Tip: After a reset, you'll need to reconfigure your server settings in Startup (server name, password, etc.) and re-enable any mods you were using.
