Conan Exiles Treasure & Relics Guide

Treasure hunting in Conan Exiles wears two very different masks. There is the scholarly grind of collecting Relic Fragments in the Unnamed City and deciphering them into rare recipes, and there is the swashbuckling chase of carrying Heroic Treasures back to a vault to grow your hoard. Both reward exploration, both reward a well-built base, and both are some of the most satisfying loops a community-server population can sink hours into. This guide walks through relic fragment hunting, the Library of Esoteric Artifacts, and the Age of War treasure room system so you and your tribe know exactly where to dig.

Relic Fragments vs. Heroic Treasures

It is easy to confuse the two systems because both use the word “treasure,” but they are completely separate. Relic Fragments are small chests that yield Fragments of Power — a knowledge currency you spend to learn legendary recipes. Heroic Treasures are physical, carried trophies introduced with the Age of War update that you haul home to a dedicated treasury to raise your settlement’s treasure value. Here is the quick comparison:

Hunting Relic Fragments

Relic Fragment chests are the bread-and-butter source of Fragments of Power on the Exiled Lands map. The vast majority spawn throughout the ruined Unnamed City, with around a dozen-plus chest locations scattered among the rubble. Each chest spawns on a chance roll (roughly a 30% chance per location after a server restart) and respawns randomly several hours after being looted, so a full sweep of the city rarely turns up every chest at once. A few extra chests live outside the city: one sits in a loft inside the chieftain’s hut at New Asagarth, and a handful appear inside the Wine Cellar dungeon.

  • Sweep the Unnamed City in a loop — chests are tucked among broken pillars, ledges, and ruined structures.
  • Server restarts re-roll spawns, so the first sweep after a restart is usually the most productive.
  • Bring gear for the city’s roaming undead and the giant boss enemies; you will fight your way between chests regardless.
  • On a community server, coordinate routes so tribes are not all looting the same handful of chest points.

Fragments of Power & the Unnamed City bosses

Chests are not the only source. The named giant bosses of the Unnamed City each drop Fragments of Power, and many of them grant a guaranteed drop the first time you slay them — making a boss circuit a reliable way to stock up. The Khari Remnants in the Wine Cellar and other tough world bosses can also drop fragments. If you want the lore-soaked challenge, fighting through the city’s roster of skeletal giants is the most consistent path to a large fragment stash. Deciphering at the Library of Esoteric Artifacts

Fragments of Power are spent at the Library of Esoteric Artifacts, a bookcase found in The Archives beneath the Unnamed City. Interacting with the bookcase exchanges one fragment for one random recipe scroll. The pool spans legendary weapon recipes, a couple of armor sets, and a deep list of decorative and functional placeables. Importantly, recipes you already know — and scrolls you are currently carrying — are removed from the random pool, so you never waste a fragment on a duplicate.

  • Random rolls: Each fragment teaches one unknown recipe, so the system trends toward completion over time rather than pure RNG dead-ends.
  • Tablets of Power: Crafting 5 Fragments of Power into a Tablet of Power and consuming it grants 60 feat points — more efficient than eating fragments one at a time, which give 10 points each.
  • Recipe scrolls: Unlock the Tablet of Power recipe (and others) from the bookcase to make later fragments even more valuable.

That extra-feat-points trick is one of the few ways to push your character past the normal knowledge ceiling, so dedicated treasure hunters often funnel surplus fragments into Tablets rather than recipes. If you are still mapping out which knowledges to chase first, our feats and knowledge guide pairs perfectly with a fragment-farming routine.

Siptah relics and vaults

On the Isle of Siptah map there is no single Unnamed City, so Fragments of Power come from a wider spread of sources. Open-world bosses across the island drop them, and the Grey Ones’ Pools — where you summon enemies from figurines — are another reliable supply. Siptah’s Vaults are sprawling underground dungeons that, while not the primary fragment source, are central to the island’s loot and relic economy and well worth clearing for their unique rewards. Treat Siptah as a “many small streams” map for relics rather than the Exiled Lands’ “one big city” approach.

Heroic Treasures & building a treasury room

The Age of War update added the carried-treasure loop. Heroic Treasures — the most prized being the Bountiful Treasure Chest — spawn as physical objects you pick up and carry, not items that sit quietly in your inventory. Combat and jumping cause you to drop them, so hauling treasure home is a genuine logistics challenge. The two best-known spawn areas on the Exiled Lands are the huts around the Mounds of the Dead and the buildings of New Asagarth.

To bank that loot, build a treasury: place a Treasure Coffer, set down high-value treasures and Heroic Treasures as building props, and station a Treasurer thrall who lets you check your settlement’s total treasure value. The bigger the hoard, the higher your standing — and on a PvP server, a fat treasury is a tempting raid target, so wall it well. Run your own treasure-hunting server

Relic hunting and treasury-building shine on a persistent private server where loot tables, restart timing, and respawn rates are yours to tune. You can dial up boss drops, adjust harvest rates, and keep the Unnamed City busy for your whole community. If you want a stable home for that grind, spin up a Conan Exiles server with us and configure it your way. For the technical side — admin commands, mods, and config files — our Conan Exiles server documentation covers everything you need.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I find Relic Fragments in Conan Exiles?

Relic Fragment chests are concentrated in the Unnamed City, with a handful more in the Wine Cellar dungeon and one inside the chieftain’s hut loft at New Asagarth. Each chest has a chance to spawn and respawns several hours after looting, so sweep the city in a loop — ideally right after a server restart.

What do Fragments of Power do?

You spend Fragments of Power at the Library of Esoteric Artifacts in The Archives beneath the Unnamed City. Each fragment teaches one random unknown recipe — legendary weapons, armor, and placeables. You can also craft 5 fragments into a Tablet of Power that grants 60 feat points when consumed.

How are Heroic Treasures different from Relic Fragments?

Heroic Treasures are physical objects you carry home and place in a treasury room with a Treasure Coffer and Treasurer to raise your settlement’s treasure value. Relic Fragments are chests that give Fragments of Power for learning recipes. They are entirely separate systems that just share the word “treasure.”
