Growth speed is one of the most impactful settings on a The Isle Evrima server. Set it too low and players get frustrated grinding for hours to reach adult. Set it too high and progression feels meaningless. Here is how to find the right balance for your server.
The Setting
Growth speed is controlled by a single multiplier in Game.ini:

GrowthMultiplier=2The default is 1 (vanilla speed). Setting it to 2 makes dinosaurs grow twice as fast, 3 makes them grow three times as fast, and so on.
How to Change It
On XGamingServer (Managed Hosting)
- Log into panel.xgamingserver.com and stop your server
- Go to Files →
/TheIsle/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/Game.ini - Find or add the
GrowthMultiplierline and set your value - Save and restart your server
Recommended Values by Server Type

Important: Don’t Go Above 40
Setting GrowthMultiplier above approximately 40 can cause the growth system to break — dinosaurs may stop growing entirely or get stuck. The game’s internal growth calculations overflow at very high values. Stay at or below 40 for reliable behaviour. For near-instant growth, 20 is more than sufficient.
Change Growth Live via RCON
You can adjust growth speed in real time without restarting, using RCON commands from your server console:
setgrowthmultiplier 2.0
togglegrowthmultipliersetgrowthmultiplier applies the new value immediately. togglegrowthmultiplier turns growth on or off entirely.
What About Disabling Growth?
Set GrowthMultiplier=0 to freeze all dinosaurs at their current size. This is useful for PvP event servers where you want everyone to start as an adult, or for testing.
The Community Sweet Spot
Based on popular Evrima servers, a GrowthMultiplier of 2–3 is the most widely used. It’s fast enough to keep players engaged through the vulnerable juvenile phase, but slow enough that reaching adult still feels like an achievement.
