With well over 100 Pals to catch, knowing which ones are actually worth your time is half the battle in Palworld. This tier list ranks the best Pals for combat — the ones you want fighting at your side and carrying you through tower bosses, dungeons and raids. We’ve grounded it in the current meta; note that Palworld 1.0 (July 10, 2026) may rebalance some Pals, and we’ll update this list at launch.

The S-tier Pals explained
Jetragon

The Legendary Celestial Dragon is the poster child of the endgame. Jetragon boasts huge Shot Attack, the fastest flight speed in the game, and a homing missile Partner Skill that lets you bombard targets from the air. It’s the best aerial mount and a top damage dealer — just note its missiles can’t stun bosses, so pair it with a stunner for the toughest fights.
Necromus & Paladius

This Dark/Light legendary duo spawns together and ranks among the very best ground fighters. Necromus (Dark) is the fastest ground mount in the game with brutal damage, while Paladius (Light) follows close behind and brings strong AoE pressure. Their dash Active Skills make them mobile bruisers that excel in melee.
Frostallion & Frostallion Noct

Frostallion is the Legendary Steed of Ice — a superb flying mount with high speed and devastating Ice attacks, perfect for melting Dragon-type enemies. Its Dark-element variant, Frostallion Noct, swaps the damage type for taking on Dragon bosses from a different angle. Either is a premium pick.
Shadowbeak

Shadowbeak is one of the easiest top-tier Pals to actually use — high base stats, a flying Dark-element body, and no fiddly mechanics. It’s a reliable all-rounder that stays strong from when you unlock it all the way into the endgame.
Jormuntide Ignis

A rare double threat: Jormuntide Ignis is both a strong Fire combat Pal and the best Level 4 Kindling worker for your base. If you only have room for so many Pals, one that fights and powers your furnaces is incredible value.
Blazamut & Blazamut Ryu

Blazamut is a towering Fire bruiser that doubles as the best miner in the game (Level 4 Mining). The later Blazamut Ryu variant pushes its combat ceiling even higher and sits firmly at the top of endgame rankings.
Bellanoir Libero

Obtained from the Bellanoir raid boss, Bellanoir Libero is a powerful Dark caster with strong magic damage. It’s a true endgame target that rewards players who farm the raid system.
How to choose your combat team
You don’t need every S-tier Pal — you need coverage. Palworld combat is built on elemental advantages: Dragon beats Dark, Dark beats Neutral, Fire beats Ice/Grass, Water beats Fire, and so on. A practical endgame line-up carries a flying nuke (Jetragon), an Ice answer to Dragons (Frostallion), a ground bruiser (Necromus), and a Dark or Fire option for raids. Match your active Pal to the enemy’s weakness and even tough bosses melt.
Don’t forget passives
A Pal’s tier is only the starting point — its passive skills can swing its real power dramatically. Stacking attack passives like Legend, Musclehead and Ferocious turns an A-tier Pal into a monster. The way to get those ideal passives is breeding, which we cover in our Palworld breeding guide. Plan your combos with the breeding calculator.
Build your perfect team on your own server
Grinding legendaries and breeding perfect Pals is a long game — one that’s far better shared. A Palworld dedicated server keeps your world online 24/7 so you and your friends can build, catch and battle together any time, with full PC and Xbox crossplay. The 1.0 launch on July 10, 2026 adds even more, including server clustering for bigger setups.
