V Rising drops you in as a weakened vampire who has to rebuild power from nothing — and the early game has a lot of systems to learn. This beginner’s guide covers how to start in V Rising.
The early loop
Your first goals: gather basic resources (wood, stone), craft starter tools and a weapon, and place your Castle Heart to start a base. From there, you hunt V Blood bosses to unlock everything else.
Feed to survive
You’re a vampire — blood is your fuel. Feed on enemies to refill blood and gain a passive bonus based on the blood type (Brute, Warrior, Rogue, Scholar, Creature). Higher-quality blood gives stronger bonuses (see our blood types guide).
Beware the sun
Sunlight burns you to death. Travel at night, stick to shade and roofed paths by day, and roof your castle fully. Managing the sun is a core part of V Rising.
Hunt your first bosses
Progression comes from V Blood bosses — each unlocks abilities, recipes and structures. Use the K-screen tracker to see what each drops, and fight them roughly in level order (see our boss guide). Upgrade your weapon as you go — it’s your biggest damage boost.
Get servants and gear
Later you can convert humans into servants to work and fight for you (see our servants guide), and craft better weapons and gear to push into tougher regions.
Rise with your clan
V Rising shines in co-op. On your own V Rising server you and your clan progress together at your own pace, PvE or PvP.
