Game Modes Overview

Conflict

The flagship game mode of Arma Reforger. Two factions fight over strategic objectives across a large open map. Players capture bases, build defensive structures, manage supply lines, and coordinate with their team to control territory. Matches can last hours and support up to 128 players. Best played with 32-64 players. The HQ Commander variant adds a top-down strategy layer where one player per side acts as the commander, placing objectives and directing the battle.

Combat Ops

Cooperative PvE missions where small squads (4-16 players) complete objectives against AI enemies. Resources are limited — you can't just respawn endlessly. Missions include scouting, sabotage, and assault objectives across multiple maps. Great for groups who want a milsim-style experience without PvP.

Capture & Hold

Fast-paced competitive PvP focused on controlling key locations. Smaller maps and shorter matches (15-30 minutes) make this ideal for quick sessions. Teams earn points by holding control zones — first to the score limit wins. Available on multiple maps with different layouts and terrain.

Elimination

Team-based PvP with no respawns. Once you're dead, you're out for the round. This creates high-stakes tactical gameplay where every decision matters. Best for small to medium groups (8-24 players) who want intense, consequence-driven combat.

Game Master

A sandbox mode where an admin acts as a dungeon master, controlling the battlefield in real-time. The Game Master can spawn units, set objectives, trigger events, and manage the entire scenario while other players participate. Essential for milsim communities running organized operations.

Omega

The singleplayer/co-op story campaign. Five missions follow a narrative arc across Everon. Can be played solo or cooperatively with friends. Great for learning the game's mechanics before jumping into multiplayer.
