How to Reset Your Arma Reforger Server
Learn how to perform a full reset and reinstall of your Arma Reforger dedicated server to fix persistent issues.
If your Arma Reforger server has issues that can't be resolved through normal troubleshooting — crashes on startup, corrupted files, broken mod installations, or persistent errors — a full reset will restore it to a clean state. This completely wipes all server files and reinstalls Arma Reforger from scratch.
⚠️ Warning: This is a last resort. A reset deletes everything on your server — configurations, mods, mission files, and all data. If you keep having issues, join our Discord first and we'll help you troubleshoot before wiping.
Before You Reset
Take these steps before performing a full reset to avoid losing important data:
- Export your configuration — In
Arma Reforger Config, click the Export Configuration button to download a backup of your server settings. This saves your server name, password, scenario, mod list, and all other settings so you can restore them after the reset. - Note your mod list — Write down or screenshot the mods you had installed from the Mods tab in
Arma Reforger Config, in case the export doesn't capture everything. - Save any custom files — If you've added custom scenarios, scripts, or other files, download them from
Filesbefore wiping.
Resetting Your Server
Open the XGamingServer panel
Access the XGamingServer panel and select your Arma Reforger server.
Stop your server
Stop your server from the Console or Dashboard.
Delete all server files
In the sidebar, go to Files and delete all folders and files (the file list should be completely empty).
Reinstall the server
Go back to Dashboard and scroll down to the Reinstall Server widget. Click Reinstall Server and wait for the installation to complete.
Reconfigure your server
Reconfigure your server with your desired settings. If you exported your config earlier, use the Import Configuration button in Arma Reforger Config to restore your settings.

When to Reset vs. When to Troubleshoot
Not every problem requires a full reset. Here's when a reset makes sense and when you should try other fixes first:
| Problem | Try First | Reset Needed? |
|---|---|---|
| Server crashes on startup | Check Console for error messages, verify mods are compatible | Only if errors persist after removing mods |
| Mods not loading | Reinstall mods from Arma Reforger Config → Mods tab | No |
| Can't connect to server | Check connection guide, verify server is running | No |
| "Missing files" errors | Restart the server (auto-update may fix it) | Yes, if updating doesn't fix it |
| Corrupted installation | — | Yes |
| Want a completely fresh start | — | Yes |
💡 Tip: After a reset, your server will be running the latest version of Arma Reforger with default settings. Re-add your mods, set your server name, and configure your scenario before inviting players back.
