Anubis is the most sought-after Pal in Palworld — and for good reason. It’s the rare Pal that’s both an SS-tier fighter and the best base worker in the game, so a single Anubis does two jobs at once. This guide covers Anubis’s stats, skills, the best builds, and the easiest way to get one.
For the full stat block, drops and breeding routes, see our Anubis Paldex page.
Anubis at a glance

- Element: Ground
- Role: SS-tier combat + Level 4 Handiwork & Level 3 Mining
- Partner Skill: Guardian of the Desert — adds Ground damage to your attacks and gives you a battle sidestep
- Base Work Speed: 70 (among the highest)
Why Anubis is so good
Most Pals are either a fighter or a worker. Anubis is both. It has a high Attack stat and powerful active skills, while also carrying Level 4 Handiwork (the highest tier, upgradeable to 5 via condensing) and Level 3 Mining. Because base slots are limited, a Pal that crafts and fights is worth two ordinary Pals — which is why experienced players rush to get one.
Anubis combat skills
As a Ground attacker, Anubis brings strong AoE pressure:
- Sand Tornado — crowd control with a short cooldown.
- Ground Smash and Spinning Roundhouse — hit multiple enemies at once.
Being Ground type, Anubis is strong against Electric Pals and tower bosses like Grizzbolt — but watch out for Grass Pals (such as Verdash or Elizabee), which counter it. See our type chart for all matchups.
Best Anubis build
For combat, stack attack and mobility passives:
- Musclehead (+30% Attack) and Ferocious (+20% Attack)
- Swift / Runner for movement speed
- Legend if you can inherit it from a Legendary parent
For base work, breeding Artisan onto your Anubis is the single biggest base upgrade in the game — it turns an already-great worker into a crafting machine. (Note: Musclehead cuts work speed, so keep separate combat and worker Anubis if you want the best of both.) Power it up further with our condensing and souls guide.
How to get Anubis (the easy way)
Anubis is a desert Field Boss, and catching it is tough. The good news: breeding one is far easier. The most reliable combos are:
- Vanwyrm + Cinnamoth — the easiest and most popular pairing
- Relaxaurus + Celaray
- Penking + Bushi
Because you can breed Anubis relatively early, it’s the biggest power spike available to a young base. Plan the exact pairing with our breeding calculator, and read the full method in our breeding guide.
How to use Anubis
The ideal setup is to breed two Anubis: one combat build (attack passives) you carry as a Partner for its Ground damage and sidestep, and one work build (Artisan + work passives) stationed on Handiwork at your base. Together they cover your toughest fights and your fastest crafting.
