How to Become an Admin on Your Minecraft Server
Learn how to give yourself and other players admin (OP) permissions on your Minecraft server.
Admin permissions (also called OP or operator status) let you run powerful commands on your Minecraft server — teleporting players, changing the weather, switching gamemodes, banning troublemakers, and much more. Here's how to make yourself and others an admin.
Becoming a Server OP
Open the server console
Log in to the XGamingServer panel and select your Minecraft server.
Navigate to the console
Go to Console.
Run the OP command
Type op YourUsername and press Enter.
Connect to your server
Join your server — you now have full operator permissions.

📝 Note: You must use the exact Minecraft username (case-sensitive). The console will confirm the player has been made an operator.
What Can OPs Do?
Operator status gives access to all server commands, including:
/gamemode— Change your or another player's gamemode/tp— Teleport yourself or other players/give— Give items to any player/banand/kick— Remove players from the server/weatherand/time— Control the world environment/stop— Shut down the server
💡 Tip: For more granular control over who can do what, consider installing a permissions plugin like LuckPerms through our Plugin Manager. This lets you create permission groups (Moderator, Admin, etc.) instead of giving everyone full OP access.
Removing a Server OP
Open the server console
Log in to the XGamingServer panel and select your Minecraft server.
Navigate to the console
Go to Console.
Run the deop command
Type deop Username and press Enter.
The player will immediately lose all operator permissions.
Managing OPs via File
You can also manage operators by editing the ops.json file directly:
Open the file manager
Go to Files.
Edit the ops file
Open ops.json to see all current operators and their permission levels.
If you get stuck at any time, you can join our Discord.
