How to Set Your Minecraft Server to Creative Mode
Learn how to set Creative mode as the default gamemode on your Minecraft server.
Creative mode gives players infinite blocks, instant block breaking, flight, and access to every item in the game. It's perfect for building servers, testing redstone contraptions, or just having fun without survival constraints.
Setting the Default Gamemode to Creative
Open the panel and stop your server
Access the XGamingServer panel and stop your Minecraft server.
Open Files
Go to Files.
Edit server.properties
Open server.properties and set gamemode= to creative.
Save and start your server
Click Save and start your server.
All new players will now join in Creative mode by default.
💡 Tip: Enable force gamemode (
force-gamemode=true) to ensure all players are set to Creative every time they join, even if they changed their gamemode previously.
Setting Individual Players to Creative
If you only want to give Creative mode to specific players rather than the whole server:
Open the panel and select your server
Log in to the XGamingServer panel and select your Minecraft server.
Open the Console
Go to Console.
Run the gamemode command
Type gamemode creative PlayerName and press Enter.
The player will be switched to Creative immediately.
📝 Note: You need OP permissions to change gamemodes. If you're already OP and in-game, you can type
/gamemode creativein chat to switch yourself.
