How to Change the Version of Your 7D2D Server
Learn how to change or roll back the version of your 7 Days to Die dedicated server and game client.
Sometimes you need to run a specific version of 7 Days to Die, whether to match a modpack, play with friends on an older build, or test an experimental branch. This guide covers how to change the version on both your server and your Steam game client.
Change 7 Days to Die Server Version
Open the panel
Log in to the XGamingServer Panel and select your 7D2D server.
Navigate to Startup
In the sidebar, click Startup.
Set the beta branch
Under Advanced, find the Steam Beta Branch field and enter the version you want to use. See the version list below for common options.
Reinstall the server
Go to Dashboard and click Reinstall Server. Wait for the installation to complete.
⚠️ Warning: Changing server versions may cause issues with your existing world. Always take a backup first using the Backups page. For a clean start, consider deleting all files and folders in Files before reinstalling.
💡 Tip: If you are locking your server to a version that does not receive updates, set Automatic Updates to Disabled in Startup to prevent unwanted version changes.

The two most common branch values are:

Change 7 Days to Die Client Version on Steam
Open game properties
Right-click 7 Days to Die in your Steam library and select Properties.
Select the version
Go to the Game Versions & Betas tab.
Choose a branch
From the dropdown menu, select the version you want to play and let Steam download the required files.
