How to Restore Palworld Server Backups - Automatic Backup Guide
Learn how to restore your Palworld server from automatic backups. Step-by-step guide for using recovery mode and manual backup restoration to recover lost progress or fix corrupted saves.
At XGamingServer, we automatically take a backup snapshot of your Palworld save files every few hours the server is live. This means if there is a failed update, a bug, or world corruption, you can restore to a previous point in time to recover your progress.
Entering Recovery Mode and Restoring Backups (Recommended)
The recommended method for restoring your Palworld server with minimal effort and risk.
Log In and Select Your Server
Log in to the XGamingServer Panel and select your Palworld server.
Change Boot Mode
In the sidebar, go to Startup. Find the Boot Mode setting and change it from Normal to Recovery Mode.
Start the Server in Recovery Mode
Go back to Console and click Start. The server will boot into recovery mode instead of loading the game normally.
Select a Backup to Restore
The console will display a list of available backups with timestamps. Find the time you want to restore from and type the corresponding number into the console.
Switch Back to Normal Mode
After the restore completes, go back to Startup and change Boot Mode back to Normal.
Restart Your Server
Restart your server from the Console page. Your world will now be restored to the selected backup.
💡 Tip: Recovery Mode is the safest and fastest way to restore. Only use the manual method below if Recovery Mode is unavailable or you need to restore specific files.

Stop Your Server
Log in to the XGamingServer Panel and stop your Palworld server.
Navigate to Your Save Folder
In Files, navigate to Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0/. You will see a folder with a long random name like 723687123871537817253.
Upload the Backup Files
Copy your extracted backup files into that save folder, replacing the existing files.
📝 Note: If you have lots of player files, you may want to upload using SFTP for faster transfers. See our SFTP guide for connection details.
