How To Change Dropped Item Limits On Your Palworld Server

Learn how to change dropped item limits on your Palworld dedicated server. Follow this guide to control the maximum dropped items on your server and how long they stay before despawning.

Palworld has two settings that control dropped items on the ground: DropItemMaxNum sets the maximum number of items that can exist on the ground at once, and DropItemAliveMaxHours controls how long items persist before despawning. Tuning these settings helps balance loot availability with server performance.

Changing Dropped Item Limits

Open the XGamingServer panel

Access the XGamingServer panel and stop your Palworld server.

Go to Startup

In the sidebar, go to Startup.

Edit the dropped item settings

Under the Gameplay section, find and adjust the following settings:

SettingDescriptionDefault
DropItemMaxNumMaximum number of items on the ground at once3000
DropItemAliveMaxHoursHours before dropped items despawn1.0

Recommended values for DropItemMaxNum:

ValueUse case
1000Performance-focused, fewer ground items
3000Default balance
5000More items allowed, good for PvE servers

Restart your server

Start your server from the Console page to apply the changes.

⚠️ Warning: High values for DropItemMaxNum can cause significant performance issues, especially on busy servers. If you increase the enemy drop rate, consider keeping dropped item limits reasonable to avoid lag.

💡 Tip: Lowering DropItemAliveMaxHours to 0.5 (30 minutes) helps keep the ground clean and improves performance on active servers.
