How To Upload Your Palworld Save to Dedicated Server
Complete guide to upload and transfer your Palworld save files to a dedicated server. Migrate from Steam co-op, PC Game Pass, or another server provider with step-by-step instructions.
This guide walks you through uploading an existing world and player save file to your Palworld server. Whether you are migrating from another server provider, a Steam co-op session, or a PC Game Pass co-op world, we have you covered.
⚠️ Warning: You cannot transfer Xbox Console or PS5 saves from the cloud to a dedicated server. Saves must come from a PC or a pre-existing server.
Transfer From Another Palworld Server Provider
If you already have a Palworld server with another provider, follow these steps to migrate your existing save to XGamingServer.
Download Your Existing Save
On your previous server, navigate to Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0/ and download the folder with random numbers and letters (e.g., 84B5E2264EC387DEDB43179D666031A1). This is your world save.
Stop Your XGamingServer
Log in to the XGamingServer Panel and stop your Palworld server.
Connect via SFTP
Connect to your server using SFTP. See our SFTP guide for connection details.
Delete the Default Save
Navigate to Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0/ and delete the default save folder that was generated when your server first started.
Upload Your Save
Using SFTP, upload your existing save folder to Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0/. Copy the folder name for the next step.
Update GameUserSettings.ini
Navigate to Pal/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/GameUserSettings.ini and find the line that starts with DedicatedServerName=. Replace the value with your uploaded folder name.
Start Your Server
Start your server. Your existing world should now load.

If you have been hosting Palworld locally on your PC via Steam co-op, follow this guide. This method is for Steam users only.
⚠️ Warning: If you are moving from a local co-op save, the host will have to start fresh on the dedicated server. The saved data only applies to externally connected players. The only way to transfer your host character is to use third-party save modification tools. See our Host Character Transfer guide for details.
Locate Your Local Save
Press Windows Key + R and paste the following path:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Pal\Saved\SaveGamesEnter the folder named after your SteamID64 (a series of random numbers). Inside you will find all of your save files. Copy your desired save folder (e.g., 84B5E2264EC387DEDB43179D666031A1).
Stop Your XGamingServer
Log in to the XGamingServer Panel and stop your Palworld server.
Connect via SFTP
Connect to your server using SFTP.
Delete the Default Save
Navigate to Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0/ and delete the default save folder.
Upload Your Save
Using SFTP, upload your existing save folder to Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0/. Copy the folder name for the next step.

Start Your Server
Start your server. Your world should now load with all connected players' progress intact.

⚠️ Warning: If you are moving from a local co-op save, the host will have to start fresh. The saved data only applies to externally connected players. The only way to transfer your host character is to use third-party save modification tools.
Unlike Steam, migrating PC Game Pass co-op saves requires additional steps and specific tools to convert your map data so all of your buildings can load correctly.
⚠️ Warning: Any save modifications could possibly bring unintended consequences. Make a backup and do this at your own risk!
Please keep in mind that these tools may not function correctly after a Palworld update. Check when Palworld Save Tools was last updated before proceeding. The most up-to-date details can be found here: Palworld Save Tools on GitHub
Required Tools:
Open Palworld Save Tools
After downloading and extracting Palworld Save Tools, open PalworldSaveTools.exe from the extracted folder.
Choose Conversion Mode
Select Convert Gamepass <--> Steam.
Locate Your Game Pass Save
For the PC Game Pass Save Folder, enter this path into the file explorer search bar:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\PocketpairInc.Palworld_ad4psfrxyesvt\SystemAppData\wgs\If you do not own Palworld on Steam, select any file path for the Steam Save Folder field.
Convert Your Save
Select your save from the dropdown and click Convert. If you have multiple saves, see the "Locating Your PC Game Pass Save" section below to identify the correct one.
Find the Converted Save
Your converted save will be in the XGP_converted_saves folder inside the Palworld Save Tools directory.
Stop Your XGamingServer
Log in to the XGamingServer Panel and stop your Palworld server.
Upload the Converted Save
Using SFTP, upload your converted save folder to Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0/. Copy the folder name for the next step.
Update GameUserSettings.ini
Navigate to Pal/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/GameUserSettings.ini and find the line that starts with DedicatedServerName=. Replace the value with your uploaded folder name.
Start Your Server
Start your server. Your converted world should now load.

Troubleshooting
No Map Data
If your world loads but the map is empty, the GameUserSettings.ini step was likely missed or the value was not set correctly. To fix this:
- Log in to the XGamingServer Panel and stop your server.
- Go to
Filesin the sidebar. - Copy the name of your uploaded save folder from
Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0/(e.g.,84B5E2264EC387DEDB43179D666031A1). - Navigate to
Pal/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/GameUserSettings.iniand find the line starting withDedicatedServerName=. - Replace the value with your save folder name.
- Start your server.
Locating Your PC Game Pass Save (Optional)
If you have multiple saves and do not know which one to convert, follow these steps to identify the correct file:
- Load into your world in Palworld.
- Save and exit Palworld.
- Press
Windows Key + Rand paste this path:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\PocketpairInc.Palworld_ad4psfrxyesvt\SystemAppData\wgs\- Open the folder with random numbers. Inside you will see more folders with random names.
- Sort by date modified. The most recently modified folder is your current save.

Viewand enableShow hidden items.
